The Poquoson High School Islander Band program is
made up of 145 student musicians and performers in 10
performing ensembles located on the historic Virginia
Peninsula in south-eastern Virginia.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Poquoson High School
Band program is to empower students to experience music
as a source of personal enrichment, as a vehicle for
the constructive expression of human emotions and as
a unique intellectual discipline. This goal will
be attained through a structured, sequential program
of study. Students will develop an intellectual
understanding of music through experiences in listening
to music and performing on their chosen instrument.
