During
the marching band season members of the percussion
section participate in the Drumline or the Pit.
Practices occur throughout July and August and then
during the school year in preparation for
performances at football games and competitions in
the fall. During November, December, April and May
the Symphonic and Concert Percussion Ensembles
practice music to be performed at the Holiday and
Spring Concerts. These two activities give
percussionists a chance to play challenging music on
a range of percussion instruments and to developed
their proficiency. They also give students an
opportunity to perform music that utilizes their
talents more prominently. Participation is open to
all students who take the Percussion class, and
after school rehearsals are coordinated with class
objectives.
