The Debate Team is for students who are interested in learning about and discussing philosophical and political topics. The team participates in the Peninsula Debate League and Tidewater Debate League from December to March and competes in the Lincoln-Douglass division which features logical and philosophical issues and arguments. This activity gives students a chance to develop their logical and persuasive skills and an ability to debate both sides of an issue. In 2006 the Debate Team won the Bay Rivers District title, was the Region 1 runner-up, and placed 2 students among the top 9 in the state of Virginia.
